Better-than-the-Bottle Ranch Dressing

A quick and easy recipe for homemade ranch dressing, featuring fresh herbs and garlic.
Sometimes I step on the scale and it rudely prompts me to get on these healthy kicks. I go to the grocery store, check out all the beautiful vegetation and decide “I really need to eat healthier.” So I load up my cart with carrots, celery, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and more. I get home, I unload the groceries, and proceed to wash peel and cut. Alright, now it’s time to munch. Mmmmmm…mmmm…hmmm…okay, I’m bored.
Then I have a flashback of a creamy white dressing, speckled with green and bursting with flavor. I am reminded of how much better vegetables taste when they are smothered in it. Don’t be mad at me whole foods people. I respect what you’re doing. Your will power totally rocks my world. And look, don’t get me wrong, nature did a pretty good job. The Good Lord sure knew what He was doing when He created the garden…but The Good Lord also knew what He was doing when He created the guy that came up with ranch dressing. I am sorry super healthy people of the universe, but I just can’t help it…and deep down, you know what’s up. This recipe knocks that jarred stuff plum out of the water. After you try making it with fresh herbs and ingredients, you will never be lured toward that hidden valley ever again, no matter how conveniently located it is. There is just no comparison. The recipe is also pretty versatile, and can be used as a dip as well. If you want it a little thicker, all you have to do is slightly lower the amount of milk and increase the amount of sour cream. Enjoy!
1 c Mayonnaise
1/3 c Whole Milk
1/4 c Sour Cream
2 Cloves Garlic, finely minced
1 tbsp Fresh Italian Flat Leafed Parsley, minced
4 tsp Fresh Chives, minced
2 tsp Tarragon or White Wine Vinegar
1 tsp Dried Dill
1/2 tsp Kosher Salt
1/2 tsp Black Pepper
In a small bowl, whisk ingredients together thoroughly, cover and chill for at least 2 hours, but preferably overnight, before serving. Will keep for up to 10 days, as long as dairy expiration dates coincide with assembly time.
